PREPARING FOR THE SALE CLEANING TIPS

Here are some tips to prepare your home for the market:

INTERIOR
  • Kitchen and bathrooms need to be clean so they gleam.
  • Keep hardwood floors, carpets, all types of flooring clean.
  • Wash windows, inside and out.
  • Wash and/or paint interior walls.
  • Clean appliances-inside and out.
  • Keep fireplace area neat.
  • Tighten door knobs, window fittings and other hardware.
  • Unclutter. Store excess furniture and minimize chaos.
  • Clean out closets and cabinets-create an illusion of space.
  • Repair/replace leaky faucets and fixtures.
  • Caulk around tubs and showers.
  • Shampoo carpets.
  • Eliminate animal, cigarette and other offensive odors.
  • Replace dark or dated wallpaper or paint, using neutral colors.
  • Clean out garage and attic.
  • Make beds and wash dishes everyday.
